VISITING ASSIST PROFESSOR. PROF. DR. ROSELEENA ANANTANUKULWONG IN THE DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE EDUCATION

Yogyakarta, 29 November 2023 - FMIPA UNY has the honor of welcoming Assist. Prof. Dr. Roseleena Anantanukulwong is a visiting professor of the industrial physics program at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Agriculture, Yala Rajabhat University. This event took place on Wednesday in Meeting Room 2 FMIPA UNY. PhD students in Science Education enthusiastically attended the meeting. This time, the focus point of the discussion was "Local Wisdom in Science Learning," which was an interesting topic addressed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Roseleena Anantanukulwong.

It provides a rare opportunity for students to gain insight from a visiting professor who also discusses the same themes, especially related to "Culturally Responsive Teaching." Why do students from the Science Education Department choose to participate? The goal is simple but meaningful: to provide a different learning experience involving lecturers from foreign universities. Diversity of views and approaches to learning is an added value of this program. Students taking a course on Local Wisdom in Science Learning can directly experience applying the concepts they learn in real life, especially through a culturally responsive teaching perspective. Thus, the visit of Prof. Dr. Roseleena Anantanukulwong is a real step in supporting a holistic and global educational experience for FMIPA UNY students.

Activities take place actively between PhD students and Assist. Prof. Dr. Roseleena Anantanukulwong. An active discussion began with a review of research articles on local potential in learning. Students present the article review results in an outline with presentations from group representatives. Interactive learning allows students to actively discuss and reflect on their opinions on the research results discussed.
