GUEST LECTURE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY MARA TO THE DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE EDUCATION
Primary tabs

Friday, 27 October 2023. Masters of science education and science education doctoral students received a visit from Universiti Teknologi Mara. This visit was attended by Master's and Doctoral students from the Department of Science Education, with 30 students. This guest lecture activity introduces an interactive care learning method. Lecturers delivered gamification material from Mara Technology University.
One of the important points discussed in the lecture is how gamification can increase student engagement and motivation in learning science. By applying rewards, level systems, and competition in a learning context, gamification can make complex material more interesting and better understood by students. The speakers also highlighted how gamification can promote collaboration and interaction between students. With game elements, students tend to participate more actively in group discussions and team-based activities, which in turn can improve their understanding of scientific material. However, the lecture also emphasized that implementing gamification in education requires a careful approach. It is due to the complexity of designing a gamification system that suits students' needs and characteristics, as well as the need for continuous evaluation to ensure the effectiveness of this approach.
The reaction from the public lecture participants was very positive. Many questions and discussions were raised regarding the concrete application of the gamification concept in science learning at various levels of education. The participants also recognized that gamification has great potential to stimulate students' interest in science and improve their academic performance. In conclusion, this public lecture on gamification in science provides a forum for academics and educational practitioners to exchange ideas and knowledge about this innovative approach. As more educational institutions begin to adopt gamification in their curricula, the future of science learning is expected to become increasingly dynamic and engaging for students.
