Since 2014, UNY has continued to develop itself to meet community demand. FMIPA UNY has prepared, revised, then submitted a proposal to open a PhD in MIPA, one of which is a PhD/Doctoral in Science Education. After going through several processes, the drafted proposal has been accepted and evaluated by Dikti, in this case the Directorate General of Institutions, Science, Technology and Higher Education, with the opportunity to be visited by the Evaluator Team.

The eligibility provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology is the first step for the science education doctoral program. The presence of the entire team is meaningful for providing suggestions and input with the aim of supporting our preparations to welcome Master of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education alumni from all over Indonesia. Confidence in future development because it is supported by lecturers who are very productive in research and many of whose articles have even been published in journals indexed by Scopus.

The presence of the Science Education Doctoral Study Program is a breakthrough to improve the quality of human resources. Next, the Evaluator Team held discussions with UNY leaders and prospective study program teachers. Evaluation activities continue by examining each standard in the proposal and updating existing data and information. The results of this field evaluation are stated in an official report which has been approved by both parties from FMIPA UNY and the Evaluator Team. Furthermore, these results will be submitted to the Directorate of Higher Education Institutions to be used as a basis for issuing a Permit to Implement the Science Education Doctoral Study Program at Facutly of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNY.
