Doctoral Student of Science Education at FMIPA UNY Participates in Joint Supervision Program with Khon Kaen University Scholar

Rifqi Rasis, a doctoral student in the Doctoral Program in Science Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), participated in an international Joint Supervision program with a scholar from Khon Kaen University, Thailand. The program was conducted from May 4–8, 2026, as part of the EQUITY Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking UNY 2025–2026 initiative, which aims to strengthen the internationalization of higher education and enhance research quality at FMIPA UNY.
As part of the program, Rifqi Rasis received academic supervision from Assoc. Prof. Niwat Srisawasdi, Ph.D., who served as the international co-supervisor. This collaboration provided valuable opportunities to strengthen the quality of the doctoral dissertation while fostering international research collaboration and academic networking.
Throughout the program, participants engaged in a series of academic activities, including dissertation progress discussions, research methodology enhancement, joint research discussions, manuscript coaching for publication in reputable international journals, and academic networking sessions. The discussions were conducted collaboratively with the active involvement of the dissertation supervisory committee, consisting of Prof. Dr. Paidi, M.Si. as the principal supervisor and Prof. Dr. Ir. Suhartini, M.S. as the co-supervisor. Several fellow doctoral students in the Science Education program also participated in the discussions, creating a dynamic academic environment through the exchange of ideas, constructive feedback, and research experiences.
The collaboration among the international co-supervisor, the supervisory committee, and doctoral students provided comprehensive perspectives for refining the research design, strengthening methodological approaches, and developing publication strategies for high-impact international journals. This synergy is expected to improve the quality of research outputs while expanding international academic partnerships.
Participation in this Joint Supervision program reflects the commitment of the Doctoral Program in Science Education, FMIPA UNY, to fostering an excellent, collaborative, and globally competitive research culture. Beyond enhancing doctoral students' academic competencies, the program also serves as a strategic initiative to increase international scientific publications and strengthen partnerships with leading universities worldwide.
Through sustainable international collaboration, the Doctoral Program in Science Education at FMIPA UNY continues to prepare highly qualified researchers who are capable of making meaningful contributions to the advancement of science education while supporting UNY's vision of becoming a world-class university.
