Department of Science Education Hold Visitting Professor

On 20-22 December 2022, the Bachelor of Science Education study program at Yogyakarta State University received a visit from a lecturer (visiting professor) from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Malaysia. Activities take place online using Zoom from 13.00 to 16.00 WIB. The resource persons present were Dr. Mohammad Termizi and Dr. Muhamad Ikhawan Mat Saat. Presentation of material from the first resource person, namely Dr. Mohamad Termizi, about STEM, which includes concepts, benefits, and how to use STEM in science learning in the classroom. The STEM concepts presented on the first day will form the basis of knowledge before getting the second material. After gaining basic knowledge about STEM concepts, this activity was continued on the second day with Dr. Muhammad Ikhwan Mat Saad. The material presented is related to applying STEM in classroom learning. The material was presented for one hour, and then a question-and-answer session continued. Interactive presentations stimulate participants' enthusiasm to ask questions. One participant asked the question, "how to implement STEM in schools with limited facilities and infrastructure?" The resource person answered this question. The enthusiasm of the participants to learn about STEM was marked by the large number of participants who attended, namely around 100 people from undergraduate students and lecturers in Science Education. Overall, the activity closed by evaluating STEM understanding. The evaluation is designed like playing a game using the web quiz. The participant who gets the highest score is given a reward and becomes the winner. It is hoped that visiting professor activities like this can continue to be carried out to open the horizons of science education students, especially in carrying out learning innovations according to the needs of the 21st century.
