Academic Progress Report and Gathering of Doctoral Students in Science Education, FMIPA UNY

The Doctoral Program in Science Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), held an Academic Progress Report and Gathering on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Conducted online via Zoom Meeting, the event served as a platform to strengthen communication among the study program management, supervisors and co-supervisors, and doctoral students from all cohorts.

The meeting was attended by the Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Science Education, Prof. Dr. Insih Wilujeng, supervisors, co-supervisors, and doctoral students from all enrollment years. During the session, each student was invited to present the progress of their academic work, enabling the study program to comprehensively monitor students' progress toward degree completion.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Insih Wilujeng welcomed all participants and personally greeted students from each cohort. She emphasized the importance of maintaining effective communication between students, supervisors, and the study program to ensure that every stage of the doctoral journey proceeds according to plan.

During the meeting, Prof. Insih also encouraged senior doctoral students to accelerate the completion of their dissertations and promptly apply for their dissertation defense so that they could graduate within the expected study period.

In addition to reporting their academic progress, students were invited to share any challenges they had encountered throughout their doctoral studies. The study program provided a Google Form, completed together with the attendance record, through which students could describe obstacles affecting their academic progress, including difficulties in communication with supervisors or co-supervisors, as well as challenges related to their research activities. This mechanism is expected to provide the study program with a clearer understanding of the issues faced by students, allowing appropriate academic support and guidance to be provided.

Beyond serving as a forum for academic progress reporting, the event also functioned as a collective evaluation of students' study achievements. The study program encouraged every student to establish measurable and realistic completion targets to ensure that their study duration remains within the expected timeframe.

Through this academic gathering and progress report session, the Doctoral Program in Science Education, FMIPA UNY, reaffirmed its commitment to providing continuous academic support throughout students' doctoral journeys. Strengthening communication among students, supervisors, co-supervisors, and the study program is expected to contribute to the timely completion of doctoral studies, improve graduate quality, and support the program's continuous quality assurance and accreditation efforts.
